NCAA: EAC notches first win in Season 102, keeps San Sebastian winless - GMA Network

Emilio Aguinaldo College notched its first win in NCAA Season 102 after defeating San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 94-87, on Tuesday at the Filoil Centre in San Juan.

While the Golden Stags held a 54-51 lead at halftime, the Generals made sure to recover, outscoring San Sebastian, 27-14, in the third period to take a 78-68 lead heading into the final frame.

In the third period alone, MJ Raymundo had 10 points, while Wilmar Oftana added nine—all from three-pointers—to lead the Generals’ charge.

San Sebastian mounted a rally to open the fourth period, with Nurben Muktimar and Khit Barroga drilling back-to-back triples as they sparked a 12-3 run to cut the deficit to 81-80 with 7:29 left.

Jacob Shanoda then answered with a layup before Christian Ricio’s free throws put the Golden Stags within one again, 83-82. EJ Castillo, however, had a personal 5-0 spurt to give EAC some breathing room past the halfway mark.

Muktimar then drilled another triple, followed by an Alforque split, but Shanoda again cut the deficit with 2:45 left.

A Muktimar split off a foul by Harvae Raymundo trimmed San Sebastian’s deficit to three, but the Golden Stags went scoreless in the final two minutes. Baskets from Wilmar Oftana and free throws from brothers MJ and Harvae Raymundo sealed the victory for EAC.

Oftana and Shanoda had 18 points each, with the former also grabbing nine rebounds. MJ Raymundo had 17 points, while Harvae Raymundo added 12.

Muktimar, meanwhile, led the Stags with 12 points, while Ralph Gabat and Arwin Alforque had nine points apiece.

EAC ended the first group phase with a 1-3 record, while San Sebastian remained winless after four games.
