NCAA: Mapua hands Arellano first loss to open crossover phase - GMA Network
Mapua University handed Arellano University its first loss in NCAA Season 102, 69-55, as the crossover phase of the group stage commenced on Thursday at the Filoil Centre in San Juan.
The two teams went neck-and-neck, with the first half ending at 37-all.
However, the Cardinals continued to pound the Chiefs in the second half, limiting Arellano to just seven points in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth before eventually taking the win.
Yam Concepcion led the Intramuros-based squad with 22 points, 14 of which came in the first half, along with 11 rebounds, five blocks, four steals, and three assists, while Ivan Lazarte added 17 points.
The Chiefs struggled from the field, shooting just 27.9% compared with the Cardinalsβ 43.1%. Renzo Abiera led Arellano with 13 points, while Yuan Camay had 10 points. T-Mc Ongotan, meanwhile, was limited to seven points.
Group Aβs MapΓΊa improved to 2-3, while Group Bβs Arellano slipped to 4-1.
