NFL Week 4 expert picks for Packers vs. Buccaneers - Packers Wire
Despite the Green Bay Packers losing by three touchdowns at home last week, NFL experts are still expecting Matt LaFleur's team to go into Tampa Bay and beat the winless Buccaneers in Week 4 action on Sunday.
While the Packers are scrambling for answers, especially along the offensive line, the Buccaneers will be starting an undrafted rookie quarterback in Jalon Daniels, who is set to make his first NFL start on Sunday. And while the Packers have won only once in the last eight games dating back to last season, the Bucs are dealing with their own epic slide, winning just twice in the last 12 games after a 6-2 start to 2025.
Both teams are desperate to win, but the Packers are the betting favorite and the expert pick favorite on Sunday in Tampa.
A review of the Week 4 expert picks of Packers vs. Buccaneers:
Of the six experts at USA Today, five picked the Packers.
Of the 11 experts at ESPN, all 11 picked the Packers.
Of the five experts at NFL.com, three picked the Packers.
From Kownack: "Once upon a time, undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito led the Giants to a shocking upset over the Packers, rushing for 71 yards while throwing for another 158 and a touchdown. That was against a 2023 version of Green Bay playing far better than a Packers squad currently in full-blown crisis mode. With Baker Mayfield out several weeks due to a dislocated thumb, undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels, who impressed enough in preseason to win the backup job, has a chance to pen a similar story. Daniels finding a way to spark Tampa Bay’s struggling offense isn’t as farfetched as it might seem. That’s not to say he’s the quarterback Mayfield is, but Baker currently sits dead last among qualified quarterbacks with a -35.6 expected points added, per NFL Pro. The bar for Daniels to surpass what the 2026 version of Mayfield did through three games is not remotely high, and everyone saw what Michael Penix Jr. achieved against the Packers D during his first game back since tearing his ACL on Nov. 16 last season. Green Bay’s Thursday night debacle didn’t portray its offense in any more of a positive light. The offensive line is Swiss cheese, allowing the quickest average time to pressure (2.29) and struggling to forge a path for the league’s worst rushing attack, which has managed 146 yards in three games. Do the patchwork signings of Mekhi Becton, Laken Tomlinson and Kevin Zeitler change that? Not nearly soon enough, which could lead to the Bucs’ first win of the season."
Of the eight experts at MMQB, all eight picked the Packers.
Of the seven experts at The Athletic, five picked the Packers.
Of the seven experts at CBS Sports, seven picked the Packers.
From Prisco: "These two are hurting right now in a lot of spots, but the Bucs will be without quarterback Baker Mayfield. That means rookie Jalon Daniels will make his first NFL start. That's a challenge, even at home. Look for Jordan Love to play better here as the Packers get a much-needed victory."
Of the nine experts at SB Nation, six picked the Packers.
