NIA searches in Assam, Bengal, Keralam in cross-border terror conspiracy case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday conducted searches at 16 locations across Assam, West Bengal and Keralam as part of its investigation into a cross-border terror conspiracy case, news agency ANI reported, citing officials.

The probe is linked to a radicalisation case in Assam involving Imam Mahmuder Kafila (IMK), described by officials as an offshoot of the banned Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

Of the 16 locations where the NIA searches are underway, 10 are in Assam, five in West Bengal and one in Keralam, officials said.

The searches are aimed at gathering evidence related to alleged radicalisation activities and suspected cross-border links associated with the IMK network, according to India TodayNE. Investigators are also examining the activities and links of individuals suspected to be connected with the case.

The NIA is probing the IMK network's activities in Assam and its suspected links with entities operating across the border.
