Operation Ashdar: Jaish terrorist shot dead in J&K's Doda, M4 rifle recovered

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said security forces recovered the remains of a Pakistani terrorist identified as Yasir, who was neutralised during Operation Ashdar. The forces also recovered a night-enabled M4 carbine rifle during the operation.

The remains were retrieved by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Doda, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) during a joint operation, the J-K Police said in a post on X.

On September 5, Jammu and Kashmir Police had identified the terrorist killed in Operation Ashdar as Yasir, a Pakistani national linked to the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Confirming the killing, security forces issued a stern warning to anti-national elements in a post on X, saying, “You Can Run, But You Can't Hide. The terrorist neutralised during Op Ashdar, has been identified as Yasir, a Pakistani national of Jaish e Mohammed.

The latest recovery comes as J&K Police carries out intensified intelligence-based surveillance and joint security drives across the region. Officials said the elimination of foreign terrorist represents another major blow to terror networks attempting to destabilise peace in Jammu and Kashmir. An investigation is underway to trace his local links and activities.

Meanwhile, J&K Police is presently carrying out an anti-terror operation in the upper area of Seoj Dhar in Bhaderwah, Doda, following suspected terrorist movement.

Earlier, on September 4, the Indian Army had neutralised a terrorist under Operation Ashdar in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district. According to the Army's Chinar Corps, troops also recovered one AK rifle and other war-like stores during the search operation, which continues in the region.
