Over 20 injured after Kolkata-Ranchi bus overturns on Jharkhand highway
More than 20 passengers were injured after a passenger bus travelling from Kolkata to Ranchi overturned on National Highway-33 in Jharkhand’s Chandil area early Saturday morning.
The accident took place around 4 am near Jhabri under the jurisdiction of Chowka police station. According to preliminary information, the Shivam passenger bus was travelling towards Ranchi when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn by the roadside.
The bus was carrying several passengers when the accident occurred. The sudden overturning triggered panic among those travelling on board, with some passengers becoming trapped inside the vehicle.POLICE, LOCALS JOIN RESCUE OPERATION
Soon after receiving information about the accident, personnel from the Chowka police station reached the spot. Local residents also joined the rescue operation as police worked to bring passengers out of the overturned bus.
The trapped passengers were eventually evacuated from the vehicle. Those who suffered injuries were taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. The condition of the injured passengers was not immediately known.
