More than 200 childhood cancer survivors and their families from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh participated in a childhood cancer awareness programme organised by Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Banjara Hills, in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The programme sought to raise awareness about childhood cancers and encourage children undergoing treatment and their families by showcasing the experiences of survivors. Tollywood actor Ritu Varma attended the programme and interacted with children and their families.

Rainbow Children’s Hospital CMD Ramesh Kancharla, director of Intensive Care Services Dinesh Chirla and head of department Sirisha Rani highlighted the need to address misconceptions surrounding childhood cancer. They said cancer can occur in children and that many childhood cancers, including several blood cancers, have good treatment outcomes when diagnosed and treated in time.
