Pakistan seal second Asian Games win in men’s kabaddi

Pakistan on Tuesday continued to deliver when they whipped little known Nepal in their Group B men’s kabaddi match of the 20th Asian Games at the Tokai Citizen Gymnasium in Aichi Perfecture. Nepal, who are not known for kabaddi, did a good job to extend some laudable resistance to the Green-shirts who have a strong legacy in the sport. Pakistan won it 58-43. The victory also took the last edition’s bronze medallists Pakistan to the top of the group with four points from two wins. Pakistan on Monday had crushed Malaysia 65-22 in their opener. Pakistan will now face Thailand on Wednesday before facing Iran.  Meanwhile in Group A show India crushed South Korea 63.31. Japan, Chinese Taipei and Bangladesh are the other teams in the group.  Top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals. India will defend the title. India had defeated Iran 42-32 in the final of the 2023 Asian Games held in Hangzhou.
