Palaniswami urges CM Vijay to hold all-party meeting on Mekedatu

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) urged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to convene a meeting of all political parties in Tamil Nadu and exert pressure on the Union government over the Mekedatu dam project.

In a post on his social media handle, Mr. Palaniswami referred to reported observations by Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in New Delhi, after meeting Union Minister for Jal Shakti C.R. Paatil, and wondered why there had not been any reaction from the Tamil Nadu government.

The AIADMK leader accused the State government of trying to “deceive” farmers of the State, as the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) had struck a deal with the Congress, the ruling party in the neighbouring State.
