Parts of SA brace for heavy downpours this weekend

Parts of South Africa are in for another cold weekend, with the possibility of flooding in some areas.  

The South African Weather Service said conditions will remain partly cloudy on Saturday, with showers and thundershowers isolated in most areas. 

It said the inclement conditions will continue into Sunday and Monday. 

The Northern Cape and Free State could see heavy downpours and severe thunderstorms, with damaging winds, hail and localised flooding possible. 

KwaZulu-Natal and parts of the Eastern Cape will also remain wet, with showers and rain expected and flooding still a concern in some areas. 

Gauteng can expect cloudy and cool conditions on Saturday, becoming partly cloudy later in the day, while Limpopo and Mpumalanga will see cool to warm conditions with showers and rain in places. 

In the Western Cape, conditions will be cool to warm, with some showers and thundershowers in the north-east, while the Northern Cape will remain cloudy and windy in places. 

Motorists are urged to take extra care on wet roads, particularly where heavy rain reduces visibility or causes localised flooding.
