Patrick Clancy’s New Wife Defends Him, Says Story ‘Twisted’ - Newsweek

The doctor who married Patrick Clancy, Lindsay Clancy's ex-husband, has defended him as a "selfless father and supportive partner" and questioned how the story has become "so twisted."

Dr. Rachel Danis and Patrick Clancy are set to appear on 60 Minutes on Sunday in the first in-depth interview since his ex-wife's murder case ended in a mistrial.

Patrick discovered his three children dead in the basement of their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home on January 24, 2023. Lindsay was charged with the murder of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, but her defense claimed she was suffering from postpartum psychosis, excusing her from criminal responsibility.

However, after the jury could not reach a unanimous decision, a mistrial was declared. Prosecutors have not yet said if they will retry Lindsay, and a hearing is scheduled for September 29.

In a preview clip released by 60 Minutes on Friday, Danis spoke about her relationship with her husband.

"I don't understand how the story has been so twisted," she said. "But I would hope people know that Pat is, as I said before, the most selfless father and supportive partner.

"And I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that," she said.

Danis is a fertility specialist who lives in New York with her husband, Patrick Clancy. People magazine reports that the couple married in April.

The couple has been the subject of unsupported speculation on social media. Baseless accusations have been made by some social media accounts that Patrick was responsible for, or involved in, the killings of Cora, Dawson and Callan, despite the fact that Lindsay admitted to the killings. No evidence suggests he was involved.

Danis has also faced scrutiny over her decision to marry Patrick. The couple wed in April, more than three years after the deaths of the children in January 2023 and after he and Lindsay had divorced.

On September 9, Patrick's lawyer, Howard Cooper, said Patrick and his family have been "subjected to a relentless, escalating and destructive defamation campaign" that has been "launched and promoted by minor celebrities, so-called influencers and outright conspiracy theorists who appear intent on boosting their own social media profiles and potential profit by publishing what they know to be outright falsehoods that Patrick was somehow involved in the death of his young children and other vile claims."

"Enough is enough -- this spread of blatant and baseless falsehoods must stop," Cooper said. "Those responsible should understand that there will be consequences, and every appropriate measure will be pursued to hold them accountable, including legally. Law enforcement has been notified."

In the upcoming interview, Patrick will talk about his children, the trial, and the accusations made against him.

In a short preview clip, he tells interviewer Ross Douthat that he still talks to his children. When asked what he says to his children, he said: "Help me. All the time."

Patrick Clancy and Danis are scheduled to appear on 60 Minutes on Sunday. The interview will be the couple's first major in-depth television appearance since the murder case involving Patrick's former wife, Lindsay Clancy, ended in a mistrial.

During the interview, Patrick discusses his three children, the trial and the accusations that have been made against him. In a preview released ahead of the broadcast, he also talks about how he remains connected to his children following their deaths.

The interview comes as prosecutors consider whether to retry Lindsay Clancy after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict. A hearing in the case is scheduled for September 29.
