Police seized 350 kg of red sanders in Tiruvannamalai

The Peranamallur police on Tuesday seized seven wooden logs of red sanders that weighed over 350 kg and worth around ₹10 lakh from a locked house in Navalpakkam near Tiruvannamalai town. 

Peranamallur police inspected a closed godown on Navalpakkam Kutt Road. The godown was fenced with no security personnel.

The police said that the team broke the main door of the godown and found seven wooden logs of red sanders. They informed forest officials, who inspected the logs to assess their nature and quality. The seized wooden logs could have been sourced from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.

Special teams were formed to nab the owner of the godown and trace the origin and purpose of getting red sanders. A case was registered. The seized wooden logs were given to the Forest Department. A probe is under way.
