Police unveil two hospitals in Kwara
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has launched police hospitals in Offa and Omu-Aran to improve healthcare delivery to personnel and host communities. The commissioner also laid the foundation for the expansion and upgrade of the Omu-Aran Police Hospital into a multispecialist facility during separate ceremonies in the two communities on Friday. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed the development in a statement made available to Saturday Punch on Friday. Speaking at the events, Adekimi said the facilities were established to provide quality medical care to officers and residents, stressing that saving lives remained paramount during emergencies. “The hospitals were established to serve both police personnel and members of the public, with qualified medical professionals providing care. In his remarks, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, Esuwoye II, described the facility as a major contribution to public welfare and urged police authorities to maintain high service standards. “The establishment of this hospital is a significant contribution to the wellbeing of our people, and we urge the authorities to sustain the standards of service,” the monarch said. The Chairman of Offa Local Government Area, Suleiman Olatunji Omituntun, also commended the initiative and encouraged residents to utilize the facility. At Omu-Aran, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti Agboluaje, donated additional land for the hospital’s expansion. The monarch noted that the facility would address the healthcare needs of the growing population and pledged continued community support. Adekimi joined the traditional ruler to perform the foundation-laying ceremony for the multispecialist upgrade. The CP thanked the people of Omu-Aran, noting that their contribution highlighted the importance of sustained police-community partnerships. Speaking on the project scope, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Medical Services in Kwara State, Dr. Abdulquadri Balogun, said plans were underway to establish police hospitals across all Area Commands in the state. “The proposed multispecialist expansion is aimed at strengthening access to quality and affordable healthcare, with plans also underway to establish police hospitals across all Area Commands in the state,” Balogun said. He commended the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, the Force Medical Director, AIG Dr. Nkechi Eze, and the Kwara CP for facilitating the health sector development.
