The Public Protector has found that feasibility studies costing R46 million for the Moloto Rail Corridor Development Project were above board.

A group of concerned residents lodged a complaint, alleging the project was unduly delayed for over 20 years and that funds were misused.

The project was for the implementation of the rail and the expansion of the road on Moloto Road.

After millions spent on the studies, the rail project has still not been implemented.

However, the Public Protector, Kholeka Gcaleka, has found that the studies were procedurally compliant with the Public Finance Management Act.
