Raiders Week 2 turning point play of the game in win over Chargers - Raiders Wire

There were a lot of big moments for the Raiders in their win over the Chargers on Sunday. Even still, with four minutes left in the Raiders game in Los Angeles Sunday, it was still anyone's game. That's when the game swung wildly in favor of the Raiders.

For context, we go back to the seven-minute mark. The Raiders were up 17-14. They lined up in third and one from their own 26. Ashton Jeanty came out of the backfield, just past the line of scrimmage, open for the dump pass. Cousins laid off a nice and easy soft throw right to his hands...and he dropped it.

You could feel the long suffering fan base to a collective "here we go again" in that moment. There was plenty of time for the Chargers to get the ball back and go down the field for the game-winning touchdown. Or at very least the game-tying field goal.

That's just what seemed to be happening, too. They marched down the field and were in first in ten at the Vegas 48-yard line as the game hit the four-minute mark. With a fresh set of downs and enough time to score and leave little time for the Raiders to respond, it was anyone's game. And the Chargers had the momentum.

And on one play, everything changed.

Omarion Hampton took the handoff and ran up the middle, where he was met by LB Nakobe Dean. The ball came out, Jeremy Chinn recovered it, and returned it 43 yards to the LA 16-yard-line.

The threat was gone and the Raiders, still with the lead, were now in scoring range to add to it. They ran it a couple times to take some time off the clock and then put it in the end zone from 11 yards out to put the game away.

Basically, the game went from looking like a possible Chargers comeback win to putting the game away. All made possible by that play by the defense to snatch the moment and the game.
