Rajasthan has achieved the target of planting 10 crore saplings, originally set for 2026-27 under the ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ campaign, ahead of schedule. The mission, launched in August 2024, aims at making the desert State greener and enhance its environmental health and prosperity.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Wednesday (September 16, 2026) that the initiatives such as ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign had fostered widespread public awareness by linking environment conservation with an emotional bond.

“This sentiment has evolved into a massive public movement through the ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ campaign. It is a significant step towards ensuring environment conservation through public participation,” Mr. Sharma said.

Mr. Sharma said the planting of 10 crore saplings stood as a powerful symbol of Rajasthan’s collective commitment to nature. The people participating in the drive would take care of every planted sapling, he said.

The State is also implementing the “one district one species” programme to promote native plant species and protect biodiversity, while special attention has been paid to desert districts such as Barmer and Jaisalmer to combat desertification.
