Rams legend named among NFL's 10 best players without a Super Bowl ring - Rams Wire

During his time with the Los Angeles Rams, Pro Football Hall of Famer Deacon Jones dominated, often finding himself making plays in the opposing backfield as a member of the famed "Fearsome Foursome." Playing for the franchise from 1961-1971, Jones won two Defensive Player of the Year awards and earned eight All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.

However, the Rams' franchise could not put together a winning team beyond their star-studded defensive line, with Jones seeing little of the postseason and failing to win a championship. Due to his production, which led to the invention of sacks as a stat, ESPN's Katherine Terrell named the legend as the eighth-best player in NFL history to never win a Super Bowl.

"Jones was one of six players, including Butkus and Page, to be unanimously voted onto the NFL's All-Time team," wrote Terrell on Jones' ranking. "Jones was one of the best pass rushers in the game, and unofficially had three seasons of at least 20 sacks, according to Pro Football Reference."

While Jones will never have an official sack tally, since the stat wasn't recorded in the record books until 1982, Jones has five seasons where he's unofficially the NFL's sack leader. He was named to the NFL's 1960's All-Decade Team, the 75th and 100th Anniversary All-Time teams, and his number 75 jersey is retired by the franchise, forever immortalizing him in football lore.
