Rams will be without Myles Garrett during brutally tough stretch - Rams Wire

As if it wasn’t bad enough that the Los Angeles Rams were embarrassed by the San Francisco 49ers in their season opener, losing 27-7. They’ll now be without arguably their best defensive player.

Tom Pelissero reported on Sunday morning that Myles Garrett needs arthroscopic knee surgery and will be placed on injured reserve. That means he’ll miss at least the next four games.

Unfortunately for the Rams, his injury comes at a terrible time. The next four weeks will be a real test for Los Angeles. Here’s their upcoming schedule.

The easiest game on that slate is against the Giants next week. It’s a home game on Monday Night Football after 11 days of rest against a team that’s predicted to finish at or near the bottom of the NFC East.

Then things get really difficult. They have to fly to Denver to face the Broncos on Sunday Night Football, followed by a trip across the country to Philadelphia where they’ll face the Eagles.

And finally, they’ll return back home to face the Bills on Monday Night Football. That’s three prime-time games, and three opponents that made the playoffs last season. Not to mention, each of those four offenses have serious firepower, including Jaxson Dart and the Giants.

The Rams have the depth and talent to overcome Garrett’s injury, but it won’t be easy.

The hope is that Garrett can return after those four weeks, which would put him in line to play against the Cardinals in Week 6. But knee surgeries are rarely simple, and recovery timelines are not always clear-cut. Ideally, Garrett will miss only the minimum four games, but whether he's 100% after this IR stint remains to be seen.
