The clip was posted on the Facebook page "Nam Ta Khon Lew" with the caption: "Help! Terrifying in broad daylight. Rescuers haunted by a ghost dog."
In the video, volunteers are seen loading what appears to be a dead dog, wrapped in white cloth, onto the truck. After the truck takes off, the animal abruptly sits up - to first the shock and then merriment of its rescuers.
Theera Phuengphat, 53, a volunteer with the Kamphaeng Phet Khao Phap Rescue Association, said the incident occurred about 2.30pm on Sunday behind Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University in tambon Nakhon Chum of Muang district.
A resident had asked his team to remove a dead dog lying in front of a house and to bury it somewhere else. The dog was a young male and appeared lifeless, so they wrapped it in unbleached white cloth and loaded it onto the truck.
About five minutes later, the dog suddenly came back to life. One volunteer sitting in the back with the "dead" animal was so shocked he thought it was a ghost, drawing peels of laughter from his companions.
When the truck stopped, the dog jumped off and ran away, apparently fully recovered from whatever ailed it, to the amazement of all.
The rescue crew later posted the video clip online, where it drew a flood of comments and shares.
Mr Theera said the team was baffled. They had never encountered anything like it before.
