Russian presidential aide says Polish statehood could cease within days if Poland enters conflict with Russia  Anadolu Ajansı

Russian presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev said on Tuesday that Polish statehood could cease to exist within two or three days if Poland entered into a military conflict with Russia.

Commenting on Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski's statement that his nation could defeat Russia quickly in the event of a military conflict between the two countries, in an interview with the Russian newspaper Argumenty i Fakty, Patrushev said Russia was not using its full military potential in the conflict in Ukraine.

“Speaking about Poland’s military superiority over Russia, Sikorski apparently does not realize that if Poland engages in military action against Russia, our country will use the entire arsenal of forces and means at its disposal, and Polish statehood will cease to exist within two or three days,” he said.

Patrushev's remarks came after Sikorski said at the Yalta European Strategy conference in Kyiv that Poland and its allies would quickly defeat Russia in the event of a Russian attack.

“If Russia attacked us and we took our gloves off, I think we would defeat Russia quite quickly,” Sikorski said. “We have an undisputed advantage over Russia in terms of air power.”

Sikorski later clarified that he had been referring to a potential conflict between NATO and Russia, rather than one between Poland alone and Russia.
