The Seattle Seahawks have an extended rest period for Week 2 after beating the New England Patriots 13-10 in the 2026 season opener on Wednesday. The Seahawks were able to kick back on Sunday and watch the majority of the league in action. They likely learned a valuable lesson while watching their Week 2 opponent, the Arizona Cardinals, who were the only NFC West team to play on Sunday.

Everyone expects the Cardinals to be bad. Like No. 1 overall pick in 2027 bad. Well, the Cardinals absolutely stunned the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1, winning 26-14. The Seahawks absolutely cannot take them lightly in Week 2.

We officially know that Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold has a glute injury. We'll learn more about Darnold's status throughout the Seahawks' week of practice, but backup quarterback Drew Lock is currently expected to get the nod versus the Cardinals in Week 2.

Regardless whether it's Darold or Lock under center, the Seahawks must put together a quality gameplan for the Cardinals. There are no gimme victories in the NFL and the Chargers just learned that the hard way versus the Cardinals. The Seahawks must be prepared while focusing on what they do well.
