Sean McVay on report that Myles Garrett will miss 6 weeks: 'That's new to me' - Rams Wire

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Sunday morning that Los Angeles Rams star Myles Garrett is facing a six-week timeline for his return from knee surgery, which would be two weeks longer than the minimum while on injured reserve. Sean McVay and the Rams didn't put a timeline on Garrett's recovery, only saying that he would miss at least four games because he was placed on IR.

On Monday during the "Coach McVay Show", McVay was asked about that six-week timeline and he said he was "not familiar" with it.

“That’s new to me," he told J.B. Long. "I'm not familiar with that report. What I do know is that he's making good progress. We knew he was going to be out a minimum of four weeks. Want to be able to allow him to start his clock whenever that is able to get started and see how he feels and make sure that when we put him back out there, it's return to performance, not just return to play. So could be the minimum time required, could be six (weeks). We haven't really tried to put a hard deadline on it, so I’m not familiar with that.”

McVay didn't outright refute Rapoport's report, because he did acknowledge that Garrett could still miss six weeks. But he also said the star pass rusher could return after only missing four games.

It's just a matter of how he's feeling after those four weeks are up. And the Rams don't want to rush him back before he's back to 100% health. They thought he was good to go for Week 1 after missing just about all of camp, but they quickly realized he wasn't his usual self.

For now, Garrett will have to miss at least two more games before having any chance to return.
