SEC power rankings have a new No. 1 after Ole Miss falls in Week 4 - UGA Wire

The Texas Longhorns squeaked by the Tennessee Volunteers on the road behind a historic performance from Colin Simmons, who posted five of Texas' 10 sacks against Tennessee. Both teams struggled to score and generate offense in a game that came down to Tennessee having one final heave to the end zone.

The Georgia Bulldogs thumped the Oklahoma Sooners 41-13 to overtake Texas for the top slot in our power rankings. Georgia took advantage of three John Mateer turnovers and raced out to a 28-0 lead in a game that was never close in the second half. Georgia's passing offense still has some work to do, but the Bulldogs look good.

The Alabama Crimson Tide continue to rise in our SEC power rankings. Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell helped the Crimson Tide dismantle the South Carolina Gamecocks with a monster 35-point first half. Alabama looks like a College Football Playoff team.

After Alabama, we have the Florida Gators, who won 52-28 over the Ole Miss Rebels a week after Ole Miss hosted LSU. Call it a hangover for Ole Miss, but Florida looked impressive, especially star running back Jadan Baugh, who already has 600 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns this season.

The LSU Tigers crushed the Texas A&M Aggies to force Texas A&M to have to win every game for the rest of the season to hope to make the playoff. Mississippi State denied a final heave to win a tight home game over Missouri.

Auburn edged Vanderbilt in a defensive battle between two teams that should be happy if they make bowl games this season. Arkansas and Kentucky won games against non-Power Four opponents.
