SexBomb Girls admit feeling nervous about releasing new music after 20 years - GMA Network

The SexBomb Girls admitted they were nervous about how audiences would receive their new song, “Mama Mama,” 20 years since they last released music.

On Wednesday’s episode of “Unang Hirit,” where they performed the new track, the group said they were unsure whether “Mama Mama” would still resonate with listeners, especially amid the rise of P-pop acts.

However, the group said the new song was an opportunity for them to prove that age does not prevent them from keeping up with younger performers.

Rochelle Pangilinan, who co-produced the song, added that “Mama Mama” is an ode to the group’s lingo, where they often call each other “Mama” and their kids “Naka.”

“We thought of ‘Mama Mama’ because those are words we often use, so we decided to use our own language,” she said in Filipino.

The SexBomb Girls released albums including "Sumayaw, Sumunod: The Best of the SexBomb Girls" in 2005 and "Daisy Siete: V-Day" in 2006.

They reunited for a concert at the Araneta Coliseum in December, but the overwhelming ticket demand kept them performing for more shows. They also headed on a world tour, visiting cities in Australia and the United States.

Rochelle also previously teased that the Sexbomb Girls are working on new projects for their fans, including new music and a documentary series. They also released a coffee table book about their reunion.
