Shivon Zilis, Mom to 4 of Elon Musk’s Children, Says She’s Been ‘Let Go’ - Newsweek
Shivon Zilis, the artificial intelligence executive who shares four children with Elon Musk, said on Friday that her relationship with the billionaire had come to an abrupt end.
In a lengthy post on X, she wrote that she had gone from being "in love" to being "let go" with little warning.
"It's hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that's just how it is sometimes," Zilis said in the post.
The post appears to confirm that Zilis and Musk, whose relationship had largely remained private despite their growing family, are no longer together.
In the emotional statement, Zilis described herself as a source of stability and support in Musk's life.
"I feel happy that I got to show Elon how it feels to be deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved with stability and gentleness," she wrote.
She added that she hoped she had provided a respite from what she called Musk's "otherwise militant existence," describing their household as a place "full of happiness and love, not war."
Newsweek has contacted X, SpaceX and Neuralink for comment.
The breakup between Zilis and Musk offers a rare public glimpse into one of the billionaire's most private relationships.
Unlike some of Musk's previous high-profile romances, his relationship with Zilis largely unfolded outside the public eye despite the pair sharing four children and many professional ties through Musk’s ventures.
Zilis is not only the mother of four of Musk's children but also a prominent artificial intelligence executive who has worked closely with Musk's business empire.
Despite the apparent breakup, Zilis said she hoped they could remain "great friends and coparents."
"I've loved him more than life itself," she wrote. "I do hope and pray he and I can be great friends and coparents."
The post quickly drew attention online after the account Big Tech Alert reported that Musk was no longer following Zilis on X, fueling speculation about the status of their relationship.
Zilis, a venture capitalist and artificial intelligence specialist, has worked closely with Musk’s companies for years. She previously served at Neuralink and has been involved with several of Musk's AI ventures.
In 2022, court documents revealed that she and Musk had welcomed twins together, and they now have four children.
Until now, however, Musk and Zilis had largely avoided the public conflict that characterized some of Musk's other relationships. In her post, Zilis said her focus remained on their children.
"There is a lot of loss," she wrote, "but luckily, we created four beautiful little loves of my life."
She ended with a direct message to Musk: "I'm hurting, but care deeply about E and will always be cheering for his happiness. God speed, Elon, the world is lucky to have you."
Unlike several of Musk's past relationships, his relationship with Zilis was tied to both family and business.
Zilis has worked with Musk’s companies for years, including Neuralink, and became one of the executives most closely associated with his artificial intelligence ambitions.
Still, their personal relationship remained largely out of the spotlight even after court filings revealed they shared children.
The apparent split comes at a time when Musk remains heavily involved across Tesla, SpaceX, xAI, Neuralink and X.
While there is no indication the breakup will affect Zilis' professional role or any of Musk's companies, relationships involving senior executives can draw heightened scrutiny from investors and employees.
So far, neither Musk nor Zilis has suggested that the apparent breakup will affect their work.
