SI on Ganesh immersion duty dies after hit-and-run on Hyderabad’s NTR Marg

A 55-year-old Sub-Inspector (SI) deployed for Ganesh idol immersion duty in Hyderabad died after being hit by an unidentified motorcyclist on NTR Marg.

The deceased, K. Venkanna, was attached to the Kothagudem Two Town police station and had been deployed near Crane No. 2 as part of the immersion arrangements.

According to police, an unidentified motorcycle hit Venkanna while he was on duty and the rider fled without stopping. The impact caused the officer to lose his balance and fall on the road.

As his injuries initially appeared to be minor, Venkanna returned to Warangal. He later developed giddiness and was taken to MGM Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

The police registered a case and launched efforts to identify the motorcyclist involved in the hit-and-run. CCTV footage from the area and other evidence are being examined as part of the investigation.
