‘Simha Vahana Seva’ enthrals devotees on third day of Brahmotsavams in Tirumala

Lord Malayappa Swamy, adorned as ‘Yoga Narasimha’, being taken out in a grand procession on ‘Simha Vahanam’ on Thursday, the third day of the ongoing Brahmotsavams in Tirumala.
The ongoing annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala witnessed the majestic ‘Simha Vahana Seva’ on Thursday morning, the third day of the nine-day festivities, with Lord Malayappa Swamy appearing in the divine form of ‘Yoga Narasimha’ atop the celestial lion carrier.
A large number of devotees thronged the hill shrine to witness the processional deity, whose resplendent appearance in the ‘Narasimha alankaram’ evoked the attributes of courage, valour and spiritual power.
The procession moved along the four mada streets amid auspicious music and traditional performances, with caparisoned elephants leading the ‘vahana’.
The ‘Simha Vahanam’ symbolises strength, fearlessness, radiance and sovereignty and, according to religious belief, signifies the triumph of righteousness and protection of devotees.
The procession also featured cultural troupes from eight States, with artistes presenting a selection of classical and folk traditions. The performances added a distinctive cultural dimension to the devotional spectacle, bringing together diverse strands of India’s traditional arts in the backdrop of the Brahmotsavams.
According to the TTD, 19 cultural troupes, comprising 494 artistes, participated in the presentations, showcasing the country’s rich artistic diversity alongside the spiritual grandeur of the festivities.
The day’s festivities drew to a close with the procession of ‘Muthyapu Pandiri vahanam’ in the night.
Meanwhile TTD Executive Officer M. Ravichandra directed the authorities of the Dharma Prachara Parishad to felicitate four best performing cultural troupes daily and, accordingly, the troupes from Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Anantapur and Tirupati ranked the selection list.
