Six arrested within 24 hours for ₹40-lakh Kalyan robbery; cash, motorcycles worth ₹36.48 lakh recovered

Six men were arrested within 24 hours for allegedly robbing two employees of a food agency of ₹40 lakh in Kalyan on September 15, 2026, after knocking them off their scooter and assaulting them, the police said on September 21, 2026. The Crime Branch traced the accused through technical analysis and informants and recovered cash and two motorcycles together valued at ₹36.48 lakh.
Following a complaint by Farooq Ismail Attar, 62, a resident of Kalyan West, Bazarpeth Police registered the crime under Sections 309(6), 3(5) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, pertaining to robbery involving hurt, acts committed with common intention and criminal conspiracy.
According to the police, two employees of Kranti Food Agency in Ulhasnagar were travelling towards the Bank of Baroda branch in Kalyan West at around 1.05 p.m. on September 15 to deposit ₹40 lakh belonging to the agency.
While they were travelling between Sahajanand Chowk and Lal Chowk, four men riding two motorcycles allegedly followed them, kicked their scooter and caused them to fall. The assailants then allegedly assaulted the employees and fled with a bag containing ₹40 lakh.
The Crime Branch simultaneously began a parallel investigation and, using technical analysis and information from confidential informants, identified and detained six men allegedly involved in carrying out and planning the robbery.
The accused have been identified as Sameer Akhtar Shaikh, 28, of Kalyan East; Aftab Aslam Khan, 25, of Thane; Shahnawaz Ghaffar Hasan Ansari, 36, of Ambernath; Soheb Yunus Shaikh, 24, of Kongaon in Bhiwandi; Mujahid Anwar Khan, 24, of Rabodi in Thane; and Shahid Isak Shaikh, 19, also from Rabodi.
Police said they recovered part of the stolen cash and two motorcycles allegedly used in the offence, with the total recovered property valued at ₹36.48 lakh.
All six accused have been remanded to police custody until September 22. Further investigation is underway to establish their individual roles in the robbery and trace the remaining stolen amount.
