Siya pushed Ketan, Chetan kicked him off cliff: Chargesheet unravels dubious plot
The Pune Police have filed a 5,053-page chargesheet in the Ketan Agarwal murder case, alleging that his fiance Siya Goyal and her alleged husband Chetan Chaudhary jointly pushed him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. According to the chargesheet, Siya first pushed Ketan with both hands before Chetan kicked him off the cliff at Lohagad fort, causing him to fall into the ravine.
The investigation has also revealed that Siya had married Chetan months before her engagement to Ketan.
The chargesheet, filed before the Vadgaon Maval Sessions Court on September 19, has laid out the alleged conspiracy, planning and execution of the murder.
Police have said the document is based on witness statements, digital evidence, mobile phone data, chats, photographs, call records and CCTV footage.
The court will now examine the chargesheet and decide which offences should be formally framed against the accused.WHAT THE CHARGESHEET SAYS
According to the police version, Siya met Chetan through her brother before Diwali in 2025. The two developed a relationship, but her family reportedly opposed their marriage and began looking for another match for her.
In December, Siya and Chetan travelled to Rajasthan with friends. Police claim that during the trip, the two married at the Khatu Shyam Temple.
The alleged marriage remained known only to Siya, Chetan and his friend Ritesh Hange, the chargesheet states.
Investigators later recovered deleted photographs and messages from their phones, including an image showing the couple exchanging wedding garlands.
Despite the alleged marriage, Siya subsequently became engaged to Ketan in February 2026 after the two families agreed to the alliance.
Police claim Siya continued her relationship with Chetan and did not want to marry Ketan.
The situation reportedly became urgent after the families fixed Ketan and Siya's wedding for November and began making preparations.THE MURDER PLOT
The chargesheet states that Siya, Chetan and Ritesh then discussed ways of eliminating Ketan. Investigators allege that the trio considered hiring an outsider to kill him but abandoned the idea over fears of being exposed or blackmailed.
They allegedly studied crime-related material and examined the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya before deciding that pushing Ketan from an isolated height could make the death appear accidental.
Lohagad Fort was subsequently selected. Police claim the accused surveyed the area and identified a secluded location after learning that a woman had died there in a fall in March 2025.
The first attempt allegedly took place on June 14, when Siya tried to push Ketan from the selected spot, but a tree prevented him from falling.THE FATEFUL SECOND ATTEMPT
Investigators further allege that Siya created a fake Instagram account using another person's photograph to persuade Ketan to return to Lohagad on June 18.
Through the account, Ketan was reportedly invited to what he believed was a surprise birthday celebration arranged by Siya. Police later recovered the deleted account with forensic assistance.
On June 18, Siya allegedly took Ketan to the predetermined location while Chetan followed separately, concealing his identity with a hoodie.
Police claim Siya distracted Ketan and led him towards the edge before signalling Chetan.
She allegedly pushed Ketan first, after which Chetan kicked him, sending him over the cliff. Ritesh, who had initially been part of the plan, allegedly withdrew from accompanying them because he feared arrest.
With the chargesheet now filed within the statutory period, the case moves to the next legal stage. The court will consider the evidence and frame charges before the trial begins.
