So-Safe Corps arrest man over alleged Church burglary - The Guardian Nigeria News
Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 31-year-old man, Babajide Usman, for alleged burglary of Glorious Christian Bible Church, Ayede, in Ifo Local Council of the state.
The suspect was arrested on September 28, 2026, at about 8am, after allegedly attempting to break into the church premises.
The Corpsβ Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo confirmed this to newsmen in a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Ganzallo said that upon receiving report that the suspect had returned to the church for another operation, the Area Commander, Coker-Ibogun Area Command, ACC David Sanni and his men swung into action and arrested the suspect within the church premises.
He said that suspect confessed during preliminary investigation that he jumped over the church fence at about 9pm on Sunday, September 27, 2026, and removed copper pipes connected to four air-conditioning units.
The commander said that the suspect also confessed to have sold the stolen copper pipes to scrap dealers popularly known as bolah.
He explained that the suspect believing he had succeeded in the previous crime returned to the same church premises on September 28, 2026, at about 8am, with the intention of stealing Gerard roofing sheets.
He said that exhibits recovered had been handed over to the Ifo Police Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution in accordance with the law.
Ganzallo, however, urged churches, businesses, residents and other members of the public to strengthen their security measures and promptly report suspicious activities to the Corps or other appropriate security agencies.
