South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on Saturday that North Korea has fired ballistic missiles several times toward the Sea of Japan from the country's east coast.
The military said the missiles were launched from the Wonsan area at around 5:20 a.m. local time on Saturday. The ballistic missile launches were North Korea's first since August 20 and flew about 250 kilometers. The actions came a day after Japan, the US and South Korea wrapped up trilateral joint exercises. The South Korean military is maintaining readiness and on full alert for possible additional provocations by the North while sharing information with Japan and the US.
