The Tambaram police shot a wanted history-sheeter in the leg, before arresting him in the Karasangal forest area in the early hours of Friday (October 2, 2026).
The accused, Sadam Hussain, is reportedly facing more than 20 criminal cases across several police stations, with two court warrants pending against him. The police said he had been absconding for a long time and was allegedly involved in ganja sales.
According to the police, Hussain attacked a police officer with a machete when officers tried to arrest him. The police said they fired at his leg in self-defence and apprehended him.
Officers recovered four country-made bombs, three machetes, and more than 20 kg of ganja from him, the police said. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Manimangalam police station, Tambaram City Police.
