Nine months after a major reorganisation of policing jurisdictions across Hyderabad and its suburbs, the Telangana government has fine-tuned the map again, creating a new Uppal Law and Order Zone along with three new divisions, while revising police station, traffic and Women Safety Wing jurisdictions across Hyderabad, Malkajgiri and Cyberabad commissionerates.
The Home Department issued three government orders on September 30, modifying parts of the reorganisation notified in December 2025. The fresh exercise was taken up in view of the restructuring of GHMC, with the government citing the need for better policing efficiency, supervision, response time and law and order management.
The most substantial structural changes are in Malkajgiri Commissionerate, where the Begumpet Law and Order zone has been officially absorbed under Malkajgiri zone and a new Uppal Zone created.
Three new Law and Order divisions, Alwal, Uppal and Medipally, have been created. Alwal Division is formed by reorganising areas of the earlier Tirumalagiri Division and Alwal police station jurisdiction.
The new arrangement also reshuffles jurisdictions involving Kushaiguda, Cherlapally, Nagole, Tukaramgate and Vanasthalipuram. Addagutta ward will remain with Tukaramgate police station. Vanasthalipuram police station will additionally cover wards 41 and 42, Hastinapuram and B.N. Reddy Nagar, which were earlier under Meerpet police station.
The government has reconsidered an earlier jurisdictional change concerning Secunderabad Railway Station, deciding to retain it with Gopalapuram police station of Malkajgiri Commissionerate. Begumpet police station will similarly retain the road leading to the old airport and the area adjacent to the airport.
Traffic policing has also been recast. A new Uppal Traffic Division has been created comprising Uppal, Kushaiguda and Ghatkesar Traffic Police Stations.
In Hyderabad, the latest order primarily reorganises the internal structure following the earlier territorial changes.
The Khairatabad side is reorganised into Khairatabad-I and Khairatabad-II zones, with police stations and divisions across Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Film Nagar, S.R. Nagar, Borabanda, Nampally, Abids, Khairatabad, Lake, Saifabad, Narayanguda and Sultan Bazar realigned under the revised structure.
Changes have also been made on the Secunderabad side, while Santosh Nagar Division has been renamed Charminar Division.
The Law and Order changes are accompanied by a corresponding reshuffle of traffic jurisdictions. Begumpet, Tirumalagiri and Gopalapuram Traffic Police Stations move from Hyderabad City Police to Malkajgiri Commissionerate.
The Women Safety Wing has also been realigned with the reorganised zones, while the Women Police Station attached to the erstwhile North Zone moves to Malkajgiri Commissionerate. Hyderabad’s zonal cyber units are similarly aligned with the revised zonal structure.
The changes in Cyberabad are largely at the police station and neighbourhood level, particularly around Ameenpur-IDA Bollaram, Patancheru, Kollur, Ramachandrapuram, Narsingi and Mokila.
Parts of the existing Ameenpur police station jurisdiction, including areas in Bollaram, are shifted to IDA Bollaram police station under Ramachandrapuram Division of the Serilingampally Zone.
Edulanagulapally moves from Patancheru police station to Kollur police station under Narsingi Division.
The order also redraws jurisdictions around Kollur, Osmannagar, Tellapur and several BHEL and Ramachandrapuram neighbourhoods. The Narsingi boundary has been further clarified, with Hydershakote, Gandamguda, Bayragiguda and Pirancheru, including the RBVRR Telangana Police Academy and Army firing range, falling under Rajendranagar police station rather than Narsingi.
Meanwhile, in Future City, areas listed in the Narsingi-Mokila-Chevella belt include Janwada, Mirjaguda, Maharajpet, Donthanpally, Gopularam and Pilligundla, with the notification specifying their revised police station and commissionerate jurisdictions.
