Ten killed, 11 wounded in Lwandle mass shooting - EWN

Ten people have been shot and killed in Lwandle, in the Western Cape, after gunmen opened fire at an entertainment venue in the early hours of Sunday morning.   

Police said the attackers entered the venue and opened fire on patrons.   

Five people were killed at the scene, while five others later died from their injuries after being taken to medical facilities.  

Eleven other people are receiving medical treatment for wounds sustained in the shooting.   

Western Cape police said they had established a multidisciplinary team, led by serious violent crime detectives, to investigate the attack.

"The motive is unknown at this stage. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.  The Provincial Commissioner of the Police, Lieutenant General Tomim Tomeni, has mobilised the necessary resources to ensure that these suspects are traced and the crime scene is combed for any evidence that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators."
