Tennessee football commit scores five TDs on five carries in perfect night - USA Today

While Baylor (TN) five-star running back David Gabriel Georges steals the spotlight for Tennessee's 2027 recruiting class, he's far from the only star committed to the Volunteers.

In reality, Tennessee has commitments from two of the state's backs as Westview (TN) senior Asa Barnes announced his commitment to the Volunteers a week after Gabriel Georges announced his commitment.

On the same night Gabriel Georges was rushing for over 300 yards and scoring five times in Louisville against nationally-ranked Trinity (KY), Barnes completed the perfect night for a running back in a 62-point victory.

Westview rolled over Obion County (TN) 69-7 with Barnes accounting for five of the Chargers' touchdowns. Why was his night perfect though?

Barnes only had five carries in the game. His final stats for the night were five carries, for five touchdowns and 165 yards in less than two quarters of action.

Playing along other stars like rising 2028 three-star quarterback Graham Simpson and Kentucky cornerback commit Miles Brown, Barnes played a pivotal role in leading Westview to the Class 3A championship in 2025. The Chargers are off to a 4-0 start this season winning by an average 42.3 points.

With that performance, Barnes now has 481 yards and 11 touchdowns on 37 carries this season.

Between Barnes' performance and what Gabriel Georges did against Trinity, Tennessee's two 2027 running back commits combined to rush for 481 yards and 10 touchdowns Friday night.
