TGSPDCL supplied free energy worth ₹17.8 crore to over 51,200 Ganesh pandals, says CMD Jitesh V. Patil

The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL) has supplied free power to 51,207 Ganesh pandals and they consumed energy worth ₹17.8 crore, said Discom’s Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil.

Despite the significant rise in energy demand due to the El Nino phenomenon, the State government extended support to the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations by providing free electricity supply to Ganesh pandals. For the 51,207 Ganesh pandals set up across the 21 circles, a total connected load of 1,12,586 kW was sanctioned, and the government bore an electricity expenditure of about ₹17.8 crore.

Within the limits of GHMC and surrounding circles, 20,128 Ganesh idols and pandals were installed. A sanctioned load of 60,217 kW was provided with an estimated expenditure of ₹9.04 crore.

Compared to the previous year (2025–26), the number of Ganesh pandals increased from 47,649 to 51,207. Similarly, the sanctioned electrical load increased from 98,627 kW to 1,12,586 kW, while the electricity expenditure rose from ₹15.59 crore to ₹17.8 crore, the TGSPDCL officials stated.
