The Vvaan producer shares moving tribute to Sharda Sinha after viral Chhath song
The Vvaan: Force of the Forest has received mixed reactions since its release, but its Chhath sequence appears to have struck a chord with audiences. The film’s producer, Arunabh Kumar, has now remembered late folk singer Sharda Sinha on her birth anniversary, revealing why her iconic voice was always meant to be part of the film.
Sharda Sinha’s Chhath song Pahile Pahil Hum Kayin features in The Vvaan, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia. The song plays during the film’s Chhath sequence, which has prompted emotional reactions from viewers, with some audiences even singing along in theatres.
Sharing a post on Instagram, Arunabh paid tribute to the late singer, whom he described as an essential part of the film’s Chhath sequences.
“Bihar Kokila Padma Bhushan Sharda ji ko unke janmdin par hum sabki taraf se koti koti pranam,” he wrote.
He recalled working on the first draft of The Vvaan and discussing the visual treatment of the Chhath sequences with co-writer and filmmaker Dipak Kumar Mishra.
“When I was writing the 1st draft of this film and me and DVD @anandeshwardwivedi were jamming on visuals of chhath, the one thing we had imagined since the beginning is that we have to have the voice of @shardasinha_official in the film as without her voice would have been incomplete,” he wrote.
Arunabh also remembered hearing Sharda Sinha’s songs at home and said he had suggested her music to Ektaa Kapoor and Dipak Mishra, who readily agreed to include it in the film as a tribute to the singer.
“I have heard my mother sing her song and I bounced her to @ektarkapoor & @deepakmishra18 who readily agreed to pay our tribute to the ‘voice of chhath’,” he added. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Arunabh Kumar (@arunabhkumar)
