Three women have been killed in separate domestic violence-related incidents across New South Wales within 24 hours.

Two women, aged 90 and 23, were fatally stabbed at homes in Bondi Beach in Sydney and Kooringal in Wagga Wagga.

A third woman, aged 70, was found dead at a property in the state's Northern Tablelands region.

About 5:15pm on Saturday, emergency services were called to a unit at Bondi Beach, where they found an elderly woman with stab wounds to her torso.

Paramedics treated the 90-year-old but she died at the scene.

A 47-year-old man, who was known to the woman, was arrested at the unit.

He has since been charged with domestic violence-related murder.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear before Bail Division Local Court on Sunday.

Police will provide further details on the incident at 3pm.

Hours later a man was arrested over the death of a 70-year-old woman in NSW's Northern Tablelands region.

Police were called to a property on Ironbark Road at Mole River, west of Tenterfield, following reports of a domestic violence incident about 9:30pm on Saturday.

Officers were told a 37-year-old man had entered the home and attempted to steal a vehicle before assaulting the 74-year-old male home owner.

Following the 37-year-old man's arrest, police located a body, believed to be that of a 70-year-old woman, during a search of a neighbouring property.

She is yet to be formally identified.

A house located on the property was also partially damaged from a fire, according to police.

In Wagga Wagga, a 31-year-old man has been charged over the fatal stabbing of a 23-year-old woman. 

Police were called to a home on Ziegler Avenue at Kooringal about 11:45am on Saturday.

Officers were told a man had left the property before emergency services arrived.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at a nearby scene and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was released without charge.

About 8pm, police arrested a 31-year-old man at a nearby home on Menzies Avenue.

He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged with domestic violence-related murder.

Police will allege in court that the 23-year-old woman and 31-year-old man were in a domestic relationship.

Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane said she was horrified by the deaths and that her thoughts were with the victims' friends and families, and the first responders.

"Women of every age, from a 23-year-old to a woman in her 90s, are still not safe in their own homes," she said in a statement on Sunday.

"We are failing women across our country and every level of government, and every one of us has a responsibility to act.

Minister for Work Health and Safety Sophie Cotsis said for three women to lose their lives in the space of a day "was absolutely tragic".

"The government takes the prevention of domestic violence very, very seriously," she said.

"This is an issue for all of us. This is an issue we all have to take seriously. We have to be out there being proactive with our communities, across all three levels of government."
