Toddy shop owner, staff booked for allegedly serving minors

The North Paravur police have booked the licensee and an employee of a toddy shop for allegedly serving the alcoholic beverage to three minors, two 16-year-old girls and a boy.

The case was registered on Sunday (September 20) following a complaint from a relative of one of the minors. The incident came to light after one of the girls collapsed on the roadside on the outskirts of the city, reportedly after consuming the drink.

The police informed the girl’s relatives and shifted her to a hospital, according to police sources. They said medical examinations later confirmed that excessive consumption of toddy had caused physical distress to the girl.
