Twenty-four schools under Ernakulam district panchayat to go smart

As many as 24 high schools under the Ernakulam district panchayat will become ‘smart’ and be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The district panchayat inked an agreement with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and received a sum of ₹1.24 crore as corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding to implement the project.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was exchanged on Tuesday. District panchayat president K.G. Radhakrishnan signed the MoU for the project with P.N. Sampath Kumar, head of the CSR division at CSL, and district panchayat secretary Timple Magi.

As part of the project, smart classrooms, upgraded IT labs, interactive digital boards, and high-tech furniture for computer labs are being set up in the schools, the panchayat said in a press note.
