Two ATM bombings reported at Soweto filling stations - TimesLIVE
Police are investigating two separate ATM bombings that occurred at filling stations in Soweto in the early hours of Wednesday.
In Meadowlands, four armed men wearing balaclavas reportedly entered a filling station shop shortly after midnight and chased away a petrol attendant and a customer before bombing two ATMs.
Polce spokesperson Col Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said cash was scattered at the scene and the suspects allegedly fled in a brown Audi and a white Bantam. No injuries were reported.
In a separate incident in Pela Street, Orlando West, about five armed men wearing masks allegedly bombed an ATM at another filling station.
βThe suspects reportedly fired shots into the air before fleeing in a dark Audi. A number of taxis and part of the building were damaged. No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made,β she said.
Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist the investigation or help trace the suspects to contact the Crime Stop line at 08600-10111.
