Two Regents Become Suspects in Corruption Cases Within a Week

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - In just one week, two regents have been named suspects in separate corruption cases in their respective regions.

The regents in question are Sitti Husniah Talenrang of Gowa and Sirajudin Lasena of Bolaang Mongondow Utara (Bolmut).

Husniah was designated a suspect by the Corruption Investigation Unit of the National Police.

Meanwhile, Sirajudin was caught in a sting operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday (21/9/2026).

The two cases have different methods of operation.

However, both involve the misuse of authority by local leaders to gain profit from projects and permits.

Brigadier General Roberthus Yohannes De Deo Tresna Eka Trimana, Director of the Corruption Investigation Unit, explained that the case against Husniah began when she requested a list of applicants and the results of discussions regarding the Approval of Space Utilization Activities (PKKPR) to be reported to her.

Husniah instructed the Head of the Department of Housing, Settlement Areas, and Land (Disperkimtan) to collect money from developers.

The amount requested was calculated based on the number of houses to be built, ranging from Rp 1 million to Rp 1.5 million per unit.

Several developers then delivered money to Husniah through intermediaries.

PT Royal Persada provided Rp 100 million, while PT Renjana contributed Rp 50 million.

"The intermediary was her personal driver," Roberthus stated, as reported by Antara on Friday.

Additionally, investigators have uncovered Husniah's alleged involvement in managing the Building Approval (PBG) for the Royal Spring housing project.

She is suspected of requesting one unit of a house at a 70% discount as a condition for approving the building permit for the Sakura II site plan.

This luxury house in Royal Spring was acquired by Husniah using another person's name.
