The iconic duo of Urvashi and Jagadish are set to reunite as lead actors after three decades for Room No: 9, a film written and directed by debutant filmmaker Jay Mohan. Produced by Vilas Kumar under the banner of Cinematic Dreams, the film’s first look was released by the makers on Thursday (October 1).

Urvashi and Jagadish have been part of numerous memorable collaborations in the ‘90s, including Sthreedhanam (1993), Simhavalan Menon (1995), and Bharya (1994), among others.

The poster features Urvashi descending the stairs and Jagadish climbing up the staircase, suggesting the film is a drama or a thriller.

Room No: 9’s cinematography is handled by Faisal Ali, with Ranjan Abraham as the editor and Kailas Menon and Sankar Sharma as the composers. More details about the film, expected to hit the screens this year, are yet to be revealed.

Urvashi was last seen in debutante Safar Sanal’s Aasha. The Hindu’s review of the film said, “Urvashi lends an uncommon depth to the scene, with a performance that is not just a portrayal of a mother’s anguish over the immediate event, but also her own already frayed mental state. The way she lets stuttered words escape her lips, the voice modulation she employs, or even the way she fails to steadily hold a pen to sign a document, all come together to paint a picture of the ocean of worry within her.”

Jagadish was recently seen in key roles in films such as Mollywood Times, Mohiniyattam, Maduhivdhu, Sukhamano Sukhamanu, etc.
