A critically ill newborn being shifted to a district hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Chitrakoot had to be transported on a traffic police officer’s motorcycle after the ambulance carrying the infant broke down near the hospital. A video of the ambulance being pushed by police personnel and passersby has gone viral on social media.

Traffic police personnel on duty, along with passersby and the infant’s attendants, tried to get the vehicle running by pushing it.

Despite their efforts, the ambulance did not start.

A video showing traffic police personnel and others pushing the malfunctioning ambulance has surfaced on social media and is going viral.

The incident has raised questions about the condition of ambulance services and healthcare facilities in the district, particularly after a vehicle transporting a critically ill newborn broke down while the infant was being shifted for treatment.

The Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) said the incident had only recently been brought to his attention.

He said he had spoken to the district officials responsible for the 102 and 108 ambulance services following the incident.
