Wipro Circle in Hyderabad’s Financial District to be renamed Dr. Manmohan Singh Circle

After naming the Aramghar-Zoo Park flyover after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, another prominent Hyderabad landmark is set to carry his name, with Wipro Circle in the Financial District is set to be renamed Dr. Manmohan Singh Circle.
The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), at its 8th Ordinary Meeting held on Monday, October 5 approved the proposal to rename the existing Wipro Circle as ‘Dr. Manmohan Singh Circle’. The proposal was approved under Section 137 of the Core Urban Region (Integrated Governance) Act, 2026.
The CMC also approved the proposal to rename the adjacent 2.97-acre park developed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) as ‘Dr. Manmohan Singh Memorial Park’. A statue of the former Prime Minister was unveiled at the park recently by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The naming proposal was among several items taken up by the civic body during its meeting. The CMC also approved a proposal to constitute a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), the Durgam Cheruvu Lakefront Development Company (DCDC), for the integrated development and rejuvenation of the Durgam Cheruvu lakefront. Around 140 acres across Durgam Cheruvu lake have been identified for the proposed development, with the proposal to be recommended to the government.
Among the infrastructure proposals approved was a ₹5.95 crore Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) project for construction of the remaining stretch of a box drain from Trendz Junior to Vashinavi Pride Apartment, linking it to the existing box drain that forms part of the Gaffor Nagar junction to Durgam Cheruvu entry plaza project. The civic body also approved construction of a Gajularamaram Circle office building beside Oxygen Park on Lalsabguda Road. The project has been estimated at ₹5.18 crore.
The CMC further approved development of a model road from the Hindu-Muslim Graveyard to Allwyn Colony Circle Border in Allwyn Colony. The project has been estimated at ₹2.95 crore. In another major proposal, the civic body approved rejuvenation and development of Chintal Kunta Lake. The ₹21.59 crore project includes desilting, embankment protection, water quality restoration and construction of a box drain to Narlakunta Lake through Shuraksha Meadows Colony in Bahadurpally.
Among the extra items taken up with the permission of the Chair, the CMC approved development of a box cricket sports arena near PJR Flyover at Gachibowli Junction under CSR by Arcesium India Private Limited, along with directional signage near the flyover and branding signages at the sports arena carrying the CSR logo.
A proposal for laying a BT road from Bandamkommu to Lalabai Colony in Ameenpur Municipality was also approved. The project, being taken up under TUFIDC loan assistance and pertaining to the erstwhile Ameenpur and Bollaram municipalities merged into the CMC, has been estimated in two parts at more than ₹5 crore, subject to availability of funds and compliance with applicable rules, regulations and financial procedures.
