Woman found dead in a refrigerator in Rodriguez, Rizal - GMA Network
Police in Rodriguez, Rizal are on a manhunt after a woman's body was found stuffed in a refrigerator in an apartment in Barangay San Jose.
According to a 24 Oras report from Dano Tingcungco on Thursday, the body of the 30-year-old victim was discovered on Wednesday after the apartment owner called the police.
Initial police investigation found that the victim was the apartment's new tenant and the landlord was waiting for her to sign the contract. He last spoke with the victim on September 9, when she was accompanied by a man who introduced himself as her live-in partner.
In the days after, the landlord attempted to get in touch with the tenant again, to no avail. The landlord finally called the police after noticing a strong smell coming from the apartment. Flies were also buzzing around the unit.
The police discovered the victim in the refrigerator, which had been covered by a blanket.
The woman had been strangled and then her body forced inside the refrigerator. Investigators found the rope that was used to kill the victim.
Neighbors told police that they still saw the woman in the morning of September 10 when she accepted a delivery. The same night, neighbors heard a crash, which authorities believed to have been the sound of the refrigerator falling.
The police do not know the motive behind the crime yet, but they are treating the live-in partner as a person of interest. Authorities are now looking for him.
The driver’s license that the man presented to the landlord was also found to be fake. It is not clear yet if the woman’s ID is also fake. — Jean Mangaluz/BM, GMA News
