Woman’s body found on Dhaka New Market stairs
Police have recovered the body of an unidentified woman from a stairway at Bonolota Kachabazar in Dhaka’s New Market area.
The woman, believed to be around 46, was found unconscious on the stairs around midnight on Friday after police received information about her, said New Market Police Sub-Inspector Sagar Saha.
“We received information and found the woman lying unconscious on the sixth staircase of Bonolota Kachabazar,” he said.
Police took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Locals suspect she may have died from illness, but police said the exact cause of death would be known after a post-mortem examination.
Sagar said the Criminal Investigation Department’s Crime Scene Unit had been informed and would assist in identifying the woman using forensic methods.
