Workshop on Aviation Ground Operations and Career Opportunities
aviation.com.bd organised a day-long workshop to introduce young people to aviation ground operations and career opportunities in the sector.
Titled “Introduction to Aviation Ground Operation,” the workshop was held on Saturday at Bishwo Sahitto Kendro in Dhaka.
Organisers said the recent development and expansion of Bangladesh’s airport infrastructure and aviation activities are increasing the need for skilled professionals in the sector. The development of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the involvement of new operators in ground handling activities and the expansion of airport-related services are among the developments contributing to this changing environment.
The first session of the workshop was conducted by Md. Harunur Rashid, AvMP, Founder & CEO of aviation.com.bd, who provided participants with an introductory learning session on aviation ground operations. The session covered understanding the key elements and stakeholder in Ground Operation, activities from an aircraft’s arrival to its departure, including passenger services, baggage, cargo, airside operations and other ground support functions, importance of safety and security awareness.
The second session featured Mr. Misbah Al Ahmed Majumder, an aviation professional with 37 years of industry experience in working with several international Airlines in Bangladesh. Drawing on his experience with international airlines and aviation organisations, he shared his career journey and discussed changes in the aviation industry, potential career pathways and employer expectations. He also provided guidance on the skills required to build a career in the sector and took part in an interactive question-and-answer session with the participants.
The workshop also featured announcements of several new initiatives by aviation.com.bd.
Participants were offered a special discount on the organisation’s upcoming Airport & Airline Ground Operation Foundation Course.aviation.com.bd and technology company M360ICT also announced the launch of Jobs360.aviation.com.bd, a specialised career platform dedicated for the aviation, tourism and hospitality sectors. According to the organisers, the platform will connect employers and job seekers while using technology and artificial intelligence-based solutions to help recruiters identify suitable skilled professionals. M360ICT also supported the workshop as the Event Support Partner.
Another initiative, Project: PROMETHEUS – Pass the Flame, was announced to facilitate knowledge sharing between experienced professionals and the next generation in the aviation, tourism and hospitality sectors. Through the initiative, aviation.com.bd will work to create opportunities for experienced professionals to contribute as trainers and mentors.
Speaking at the event, Md. Harunur Rashid, Founder & CEO of aviation.com.bd, said, “The development taking place across the country, including the third terminal, Bogura Airport, Cox’s Bazar Airport and other aviation hubs, represents important infrastructure development. However, we are still behind in building the skilled workforce required to support this growth. This programme was organised to engage young people and help them to understand the career opportunities & required skills important for ground operations and other areas of the aviation industry.”
CHECK IN, a travel-focused digital media platform, was the Media Partner of the event.
At the conclusion of the programme, appreciation crests were presented to special speaker Mr. Misbah Al Ahmed Majumder, Event Support Partner M360ICT, and Media Partner CHECK IN.
Certificates were subsequently presented to the 25 participants who took part in the workshop.
The organisers said aviation.com.bd regularly conducts training programmes, workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions and awareness initiatives to promote aviation skills and career awareness and to introduce young people to opportunities within the industry. The organisation plans to continue such initiatives in the future.
